Gambling Reformers Ask for Maximum Online Betting Limit to £2
The resolution was put forward by a team of bishops and statesmen, including previous Conservative member Ian Duncan Smith, 18 bishops, and 100 MPs. In total, the letter had supported by more than 160 people.
Players may be capped at a maximum of £2 for online gambling and £100 a month as over 160 members of parliament and their colleagues have joined forces to call for bold state reforms to limit gambling.
In the letter, UK Member of Parliaments and their colleagues, along with Ian Duncan Smith, an ex-Conservative leader, Lord Grade, former BBC president, and 18 bishops, suggested that there are currently over 55,000 young people aged 11 and 16 addicted to betting.
The timing of this report is not accidental. The United Kingdom is now evaluating the betting laws and ordinances governing gambling, and new rules are supposed to enact at the beginning of next year.
They say PHE analysis shows the financial and social expenses of betting are over 1.27 B pounds a year, ranging from economic issues like unemployment and bankruptcy to divorce, family problems, and health issues.
In an official government document on betting, which will be published next year, MPs and their colleagues wrote: “We urge the UK PM to boldly carry out the reforms necessary to limit damage to the entire country. It’s chance for the government to deliver on the 2019 Conservative Party promise to amend betting laws, improve social equity and create a brighter future for all of us.”
Spending Limit 100 Pounds per Month
The proposed proposals, supported by MPs and colleagues from multi-party groups advocating for reform of the gambling industry in both chambers, include steps to reduce the number of opportunities for gambling.
They will find that online restrictions are the same as those on major roads. And betting companies do not comply with them or check them properly, putting them at risk of losing their permit.
The highest bet will be 2 pounds, with a maximum spending limit of 100 pounds per month, which will require firms to conduct thorough availability checks for players to make sure they are not spending in excess of their funds.
Gambling Rates Go Down
MPs are also trying to ban VIP gambling schemes, which MPs and like-minded people call “wrong.” The giants of this game use the strategy of appointing “VIP clients” and providing personalized service with rewards and economic incentives to promote gambling.
In addition, MPs are also examining tighter restrictions on betting ads, including a ban on logo placement on T-shirts and billboards in stadiums.
A smart taxpayer will force large companies to spend extra on drugs and information campaigns.
The group believes that restricting betting is the only approach to limit betting problems. However, according to the UK Gambling Commission, the betting issues in the country are shrinking. The “Moderate Risk Ratio” decreased by 50% from June 2020 to June 2021 (from 1.4% to 0.7%).
