New Record for New York Online Sports Betting Handle

Panoramic view of the New York City skyline.New York residents have wagered $23.94 billion on online sports betting during the 2024-2025 fiscal year. This new record for the Empire State shows a 21.9% growth from the previous year and is the highest annual betting handle ever scored in the US.

Fiscal Year 2024-25 Brings Nearly $2.14 Billion

The New York State Gaming Commission announced that the gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the fiscal year was $2.14 billion. Data shows that that is another record for the Empire State, exceeding the previous GGR by 21.6%. The annual hold was 8.94%, slightly lower than 2023-24’s 8.98%. All data was collected for the period between April 2024 and March 2025.

The last few months have been strong for the NY sports betting market. Even though February’s $1.98 handle marked a decline for the first time in six months, March rebounded with better results, reaching over $2.4 billion.

FanDuel Scores Nearly $10 Billion

FanDuel, owned by Flutter Entertainment, leads the charts with a record $9.2 billion in processed bets. The platform reported revenue of $969.8 million, which leaves a 10.5% hold. DraftKings comes second, with a revenue of $727.9 million out of a $8.6 billion handle, maintaining a hold of 8.46%.

Caesars ranked within the top three, thanks to $131.4 million revenue off $1.15 billion and a 9.09% hold. BetMGM generated $121.4 million from $1.71 billion, resulting in a hold of 7.1%. It was followed by Fanatics, who reported a $120.2 million off a $1.61 billion handle.

RushStreet Interactive also showed impressive performance. The operator generated $39.9 million in revenue from a $582.7 million handle, while ESPN Bet earned $14.4 million out of $234.9 million. Their holds were 6.85% and 6.13%, respectively.

Bally Bet scored $7.6 million off $110.5 million, and Resorts World Bet achieved $6.5 million from $89.6 million. However, the data didn’t include information about operators’ revenue from March.

Handle Nearly Breaks New York’s Monthly Record in March

The total amount wagered by players in New York was $2.44 billion in March. Statistics show a 31.9% increase from the previous year, just 2% behind the state’s record $2.49 billion generated in January 2025.

The monthly revenue was $161.8 million, 6% ahead of March 2023. However, it was still 34.5% lower than January’s $247 million. The NY State Gaming Commission reported a 6.63% hold.
