Ukraine Casino Bill Passes its First Reading

The Ukranian parliament passed the first reading of the country’s Casino Bill, which included Sports Betting. This is a monumental step for the Eastern European country with one of the most stringent anti-gambling rules in the world.

The Bill was only required a simple majority to proceed to the next reading. 260 of the 450 unicameral parliamentarians voted in favor of passing the bill to the next stage. Small casinos (200-250) rooms would pay UAH41.7 million ($1.72 million), while those with more than 250 rooms will pay $2.6M for licenses.
